A REVIEW ON MS (MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS) WITH AIRNERGY

THE KEY MESSAGE

MS is an inflammatory neurological disorder that involves malfunctions in the autoimmune system, gut microbiota, and mitochondria. Beyond energy production, mitochondria are central to cellular metabolism and play vital roles in the regulation of cellular communication, metabolism, and immune system. Their proper functioning determines the health status of cells, that in turn determines the health of different organs and systems. Those long-living cells such as neurons, suffer more from mitochondria dysfunction than other cell types.

Studies have linked respiratory-deficient neurons in MS patients to high levels of mitochondria DNA deletions. This is considered a major contributor to neurodegeneration in MS.

By supplying pure green energy to the body, Airnergy reduces the production of free radicals, which leads to a reduction in oxidative stress. This leads to profound changes in inflammation status and eases the hyper-reactive immune system and stress responses. In the meantime, the enhanced cellular energy releases patients from chronic fatigue, improves overall health, and leads to better sleep and mental status.

There is no cure for MS. However, there are many ways to improve the quality of life and to regain certain aspects of functionalities. This is what Airnergy does best for MS. It has, and will continuously better the lives of MS patients. This is what truly matters.

THE WHITE PAPER ON THE USE OF AIRNERGY FOR MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

Waldbaden-Atem-Therapie-Sonnenenergie

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when the autoimmune system mistakenly attacks the protective layer of nerve fibers. It is characterized by demyelination, axonal loss, and the formation of sclerotic plaques. An estimated 2.9 million people around the world are affected by this debilitating neurological condition.

There is no cure to MS and treatment options are to manage symptoms and slow the disease's progression. For this reason, many MS patients have engaged in various forms of complementary therapies to better their quality of life. In 2008, Prof. Klaus Jung from the University of Mainz wrote a white paper on the use of Airnergy by MS patients. In that article, titled “New Method of Treating Multiple Sclerosis”, he referenced a total of 5 patients’ positive experiences with Airnergy. Based on available knowledge, Prof. Jung contributed positive outcomes to the subjective feeling of ill health and improved oxygen utilization with Airnergy inhalation. Over the past decade, we have witnessed an enhanced understanding of MS on the scientific front. Meanwhile, more positive experiences have been reported on Airnergy from patients who suffer from MS and other neurological disorders. The combined factors prompt me to revisit the topic of the use of Airnergy on MS.
THE EXPANDED HORIZON OF MS IN SCIENCE

Despite remaining a major challenge, scientific research on MS has gained considerable momentum over the past decade. Conventionally MS was categorized into subtypes such as relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS), primary MS (PPMS), and secondary progressive MS (SPMS). However, increasing evidence has prompted a new international framework to describe MS. The new framework is driven by the underlying pathological progression and compensatory mechanism. MS is an inflammatory neurological disorder that involves malfunctions in the autoimmune system, gut microbiota, and mitochondria. This broad spectrum of disorders has prompted diverse clinical approaches to tame the immune cells, gut bacteria, and inflammation. While convinced by the latest scientific development, I found a recent article titled “Mitochondria: It is all about energy” is of great interest. The article is not specifically geared toward MS, rather it pursues mitochondria dysfunction as the root cause of diseases. This in-depth scientific review is extremely thorough and well-structured. I fully resonate with the authors and have attached one of its illustrations for better understanding. Indeed, everything is about energy. This is the angle I wish to focus on in the discussion on the positive effects in MS patients with the use of Ainergy.

MITOCHONDRIA: IT IS ABOUT ENERGY, BUT BEYOND ENERGY

Energy is the foundation of life. The energy flow sustains all dynamic psychological and biological activities in our bodies. From simple sensory functions to complicated stress and immune responses, none of this can be possible without energy. More precisely, none of these will be possible without mitochondria – the “powerhouse of the cell”.

Mitochondria are energy-producing organelles that are thought to have evolved from the free-living bacterium. They have their own sets of circular chromosomes or DNAs, which are different from the human DNAs. Through cellular respiration, mitochondria convert nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the main energy currency of the cell. In the article “The Art of Air 2019: Journey Through The Century”, I have described the essential elements of cellular respiration and how it relates to the fundamental vital force of life. In this sense, I am fully in agreement with the article that mitochondria are all about energy. However, I am afraid this is only one side of the coin. Mitochondria has another vital role, which is less understood but gravely important for the totality of life and health. This is also particularly important for our understanding of MS and Airnergy. Beyond energy production, mitochondria are central to cellular metabolism and play vital roles in the regulation of cellular communication, metabolism, and immune system. They help regulate immune responses by producing reactive oxygen species (ROS), so-called free radicals, through a process called a quenching cycle. This was detailed in the article “Dr. Chi On Free Radicals And Airnergy”. This process is particularly important to the gutheart-brain axis because it triggers various systematic regulatory signals of the entire body.

Different reactive oxygen species (ROS) are responsible for different bio-regulatory roles and defense mechanisms. Essentially, cellular respiration and this quenching cycle are interconnected in a mutual feedback loop to ensure the whole body can seamlessly work as a team to respond and adapt to ever-changing internal and external environments.

MITOCHONDRIA: CELLULAR RESPIRATION, GLYCOLYSIS, AND QUENCHING CYCLE

As the powerhouses of cells, mitochondria hold the key to two sets of indispensable roles:

1) The first role of mitochondria is to generate cellular energy for the cells. You can consider this as a way to supply energy “locally” within the cells. It is performed through the so-called aerobic cellular respiration. In addition, there is an anaerobic process called glycolysis. It is like two kinds of heating systems in the kitchen to generate energy (heat) for the room. The aerobic process requires electricity, which uses oxygen and sugar. The anaerobic process uses sugar only, with no oxygen involvement. It is like burning wood in the traditional stove. Cellular respiration is a more efficient and clean “heating” method. Glycolysis, on the other hand, is a very inefficient “smoky” method. Smoke is the inflammation we talk about in the human body.

2) The second role of mitochondria is to generate bio-regulatory energy for the entire human body. We can call it a “remote” energy supply since it functions as a systematic regulator for the entire metabolic and immunologic activities. This is done by the so-called quenching cycle which oxygen turns into free radicals after releasing electrons. In the end, the final green energy water is formed.

Since both the above aspects have been described in past articles, I want to focus on the practical understanding of their real implications. The local energy supply is widely accepted in medical biology. However, the remote energy supply is rather enigmatic and even less known by medical professionals. We have learned that superoxide (the 1st product from oxygen) can trigger an immune response; hydroxy peroxide (the 2nd product) acts like a security guard in monitoring bacterial invasion. In the event of a virus or bacterial invasion, it can trigger an immune response to fight against foreign substances. Hydroxyl (the 3rd product) is extremely reactive and acts as a soldier to kill intruders. However, in reality, these reactive oxygen species (ROS) are essential bioregulators that carry bio-informational functions. They conduct their responsibilities through light emission. Today, it is proven that cells communicate with each other through light. So, how in reality the above activities are coordinated? Under normal circumstances, cellular respiration is the main method for local energy generation. While this is happening, the body is in harmony, and little regulation is needed. Thus, a very low percentage of oxygen goes through the quenching cycle. This means the cell is like a clean room with little inflammation. However, when there is disturbance due to external or internal stimuli, a much larger portion of oxygen goes through the quenching cycle and glycolysis becomes more predominant in the cell. Now, we have a situation of increased inflammation, a hyperactive immune system, and much more inefficient energy production. The allostatic (a higher response than expected, mentioned in the article on oxidative stress) nature of cellular response makes it worse and worse. This cascade of events set off the whole trouble of inflammation, oxidative stress, DNA mutations, and cellular apoptosis.

UNDERSTAND CELL TURNOVER AND CELLULAR HEALTH

Cells are the smallest independent biological units inside our bodies, trillions of them together make up the human body. Over time, cells age and become damaged, thus they are constantly replicating. You lose about 500 million skin cells every day. Fat cell turnover rate is about 10% a year, which needs about 10 years to completely replace them. Muscle cells and bone cells require about 10 to 15 years; The liver cells renew themselves every 1.5 years. On average every 7 years, the body will be replaced with new cells.

However, there are some exceptions to this. Like those in the central nervous system, our brain, heart, and eyes, are with us our entire lives. Why should we first talk about this? Can you see, MS affects mostly the long-living and forever-living cells. The longer they live, the higher inflammation or damage they accumulate, and the higher degree of being rejected by the autoimmune system. At the same time, many other cells constantly go through the regeneration process at a mind-blowing rate of 4 million cells per second. All the cells are not only required to work efficiently within their own cell type but also, they have to be able to communicate and adapt to changes in other cell types.

This gigantic communication and adaption process happens across different organs and systems in the entire body. Therefore, as the powerhouses of cells, mitochondria serve as the “main circuit board” (like in an electric device) of cells. Mitochondria also regenerate like other cells, yet the rate varies depending on the kinds of cells. Their proper functioning determines the health status of cells, that in turn determines the health of different organs and systems. Maintenance of optimal mitochondrial function and energy homeostasis requires both the generation of new healthy mitochondria and the elimination of dysfunctional ones. Here is another interesting fact for our understanding of cellular health. As mentioned, mitochondria are deterministic to cellular health. Those long-living cells require a lot of energy and thus have the highest concentration of mitochondria. It is estimated that each neuron can have up to 2 million mitochondria. On the opposite, there are no mitochondria in the red blood cells. As such, the red blood cells require rapid turnover. The total turnover rate of the human body is about 330 billion cells per day, 65% of these cells are red blood cells.

MITOCHONDRIA DYSFUNCTION IN MS

Mitochondria harbor their own DNA, which is essential for maintaining cellular health. Those long-living cells such as neurons, suffer more from mitochondria dysfunction than other cell types. Studies have linked respiratory-deficient neurons in MS patients to high levels of mitochondria DNA deletions. This is considered a major contributor to neurodegeneration in MS.

Furthermore, the pathogenesis of MS is centered around key phases: the inflammatory response, the autoimmune response, and the demyelinating reaction. The pathological development of MS is significantly influenced by mitochondria function through the following mechanisms:

1) Accumulating mutations and inability to repair DNA damage
2) Abnormal mitochondrial protein or gene expression
3) Defects in mitochondrial enzyme activity and aging
4) Disturbances in mitochondrial dynamics
5) Mitochondria-mediated cell apoptosis

Genetic changes in immune cells, gut microbiota imbalance, viral infections, and lifestyle factors all pose increased risks of MS. These factors can influence mitochondrial functions and contribute to immune system dysfunction, leading to the attack on the myelin sheath in the CNS, causing demyelination, axonal damage, and neurodegeneration. Therefore, mitochondria dysfunction plays a critical role in the pathophysiology of MS. There has been an overwhelming amount of research and studies on this topic in MS. Moreover, this is also a causative factor in numerous chronic metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases including ALS, (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), Alzheimer’s disease, and AMD (Age-related Macular Degeneration).

AIRNERGY CHANGES CELLULAR ENERGY AT THE MITOCHONDRIA LEVEL FOR MS

We can’t live without breath and our normal cells can’t survive without cellular respiration in the mitochondria. This is the simplest reason why so many MS patients experience great improvement in their symptoms with Airnergy. So, it comes as no surprise that patients feel great subjectively, as mentioned in the paper from Prof. Jung. Some people may remain skeptical about the claim that Airnergy can be a “New Method of Treating Multiple Sclerosis” as titled by Prof. Jung. I have two take-home messages from me in this regard:

1) Diseases are simply the names we give to a cluster of pathological changes in medicine. At the root level, everything is about energy from a single heartbeat to an emotional response to stress. Rather than allopathically treating disease, we should have a renewed osteopathic approach to address energy at the cellular level. Airnergy is not just a new method for Multiple Sclerosis but a unique technology to return life to its true status of well-being.

2) Multiple Sclerosis affects mainly those long-living cells, particularly the central nervous system. From the onset to being diagnosed, it already has passed many years. So, the irreversible damages, caused by substances like Advanced Glycation Endproducts (AGEs, mentioned in a previous article on antiaging with Airnergy), are close to impossible to handle. Therefore, there is no cure for MS. However, there are many ways to improve the quality of life and to regain certain aspects of functionalities. This is what Airnergy does best for MS. It has, and will continuously better the lives of MS patients. This is what truly matters.
